Tell us a bit about your club:

We are Guilsfield Young Farmers Club, a small club of 17 members with the age range of 10-28 years old. Our club is described as exciting, great and intriguing. We allow our calendar throughout the year to be fun, interesting and to allow our members to develop new skills that connect to life skills that our members will need and use in real life scenarios.

Over the past 12 months our members have had the opportunity to attend farm talks, laser tag, boxing, cooking, woodwork, wreath making and we’re going to engage in raft building later this year.

We are a small village in Guilsfield, to engage with elderly members of our community, we hold regular monthly bingos as a fundraiser towards our club activities. Engaging with our community allows us to support them when required, we have shown support with the coronation games at Christmas, we organised a carol concert with a best decorated Christmas tree competition. As a club we have completed dementia friendly training, we have also become cancer champions and every year we have a first aid night where we are shown how to use a defibrillator, which allows us to support our local community.

Our members enjoy stock judging, competitions and the entertainment Feb Fest competitions. Our members can converse in English and Welsh as we are a mix of Welsh and English speakers, this is great for our younger members as they are introduced to a new language through the club. This also helps young children feel welcome in our club as there is a mix of Welsh learners and fluent speakers.
