Megan Powell comes from a farming background but her parents were not actively farming
when she was growing up, therefore during her time as a YFC member, she has grasped every
opportunity to further her appreciation and understanding of the agricultural sector and
issues impacting rural communities. Through the YFC movement, Meg has raised money for a
number of different charities including climbing the three highest peaks of Powys in 12 hours

and joining her County Chairman last year cycling around Brecknock
for Wales Air Ambulance and the DPJ Foundation. Meg believes the
agricultural sector is vital to the fabric of rural life and communities
and funds rural development. Agriculture and local farming enterprises
serve as a platform and an injection of income for rural communities
to thrive, supporting British agriculture provides income for rural
communities to improve and maintain the wellbeing of the people who
lives within them.
