On the 6th of October, Wales YFC held its annual International Selection Day. This year, 75 members applied, with 56 selected to travel on 9 different trips. For the first time in several years (if not ever) there was representation from all 12 counties. YFC would like to thank our judges and officers for all their help judging and stewarding on the day.

Wales YFC would like to take this opportunity to thank the NFU Mutual Charity Trust for supporting the Patagonia trip. After this, they will have the opportunity to research the Welsh regions of Patagonia, while visiting local schools, museums and farms. There will also be the opportunity to enjoy the scenery of Nant Fall Nature Reserve, Rafting on the Corcovado River and join an optional Whale Watching tour. Before returning home to Wales, members will also have the opportunity to visit Buenos Aires in the namesake of La Boca, San Telmo and Recoleta.
In 2025, another member will fly to New Zealand. On Selection Day, Rebecca John, from Pembrokeshire YFC, was announced as being successful in winning the New Zealand Dairy Careers scholarship. The judges were impressed by her passion for all things agriculture and her willingness to learn. Here’s what Rebecca had to say after she received the news, “It’s an honour to receive the dairy scholarship in New Zealand! I’m really excited to experience working in the New Zealand dairy industry and to visit the country. Thank you so much to YFC Wales and Dairy Careers New Zealand for this unique opportunity!”
We look forward to seeing the adventures of our members over the next year. For up-to-date information on all things YFC, follow us on Instagram or Facebook.
