AGM IN CARDIFF TO LAUNCH THE NEW YFC YEAR

YFC members from across Wales travelled to Cardiff to attend the Federations recent Annual General Meeting.

During the AGM on Saturday the 16th of September, members elected a number of officials for the year ahead. Chris Lewis finished his role as Wales YFC President after two years in office. Wales YFC would like to thank Chris for all his hard work and dedication towards the organisation. Mrs Sarah Lewis from Montgomery YFC was elected as the new President for Wales YFC. Rhys Richards, from Ynys Môn YFC, was elected as Chairman and Dewi Davies, Ceredigion YFC, as Vice Chairman for the forthcoming year.

Winners of Various Awards were also announced during the meeting. The NFU Cymru Membership Trophy for the largest increase in membership gained in the past twelve months, when compared to the figures from the 2021-2022 year was awarded to Eryri YFC, with a 24.5% increase in their membership. The Beynon Thomas Trophy for the Federation winning the highest number of marks in the activities programme for Junior members during the YFC year 2022/23 was Ceredigion YFC. Finally, the Western Mail Trophy for the Federation winning the highest number of marks in all the YFC programmes in 2022/23 was Ceredigion YFC.


As well as awards, two cheques were also presented at the AGM following the 2022-2023
Chairman’s Challenge. Hefin Evans raised a total of £4615.50 after completing the Welsh Three
Peaks Challenge on August 12th, which was split between Wales Air Ambulance and Diabetes Cymru.


Sarah Lewis, newly elected President of Wales YFC said; “I am in awe of the fact that members have voted for me. I am YFC through and through and truly believe that members can achieve so much with this organisation. I will do my best for Wales YFC, and very much looking forward to working with members, officers and staff.”


Rhys Richards, newly elected Chair of Wales YFC was in fact getting married on the 16th September so was unable to attend the meeting. Rhys had sent a pre recorded video to be played at the AGM and he said; “I would like to thank you all for the nomination and it will be an absolute pleasure to receive the roll as chair of Wales YFC. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience as Vice Chair over the past year and appreciated the opportunity to get to know members from various counties across Wales. I look forward to reaching other counties over the next year, and please feel free to get in touch regarding anything I can do for you. I am more than willing to help in any way I can.”

Dewi Davies, newly elected Vice Chair of Wales YFC, said; “It is an honour to be elected as Wales YFC Vice Chair. I look forward to working closely with members, officers and staff over the next 12 months – thank you to you all!
