Describe your Club in 3 words:

Competitive, Determined and Friendship

Favourite Club Night Activity:

We are quite a sporty club so rounders and a BBQ is always a favourite in our club!

Fundraising Accomplishments:

Every year we raise between £1,000 – £1,500 Carol Singing around our Valley which we split evenly between 3 charities. This year we raised £1,273.70p and our chosen charities were Mind, St Michaels Hospice and The Wales Air Ambulance.

In terms of raising money for our club our biggest annual fundraisers are our Bonfire night, A Christmas quiz or Bingo and hiring out the Charity Shop for a week which always raises over £1,000 which helps with our competition costs.

Most recently we hosted the 2023 Annual County Rally. Clubs help county to find sponsorship and as a club we have set the record in county for sourcing the most sponsorship at £9,500 which we were congratulated on by County.

Work Within the Community:

Hosting the Rally in 2023 well and truly meant that our whole community came together to help host the large event. After winning the Rally on home turf we cleaned up the following day after the rally dance with a few sore heads. After the big clear up  we all had a BBQ all together and decided to have a few more drinks to celebrate because-well why not!

More recently the club have raised awareness of mental health issues in the Agriculture Industry by making it the important message of their recent Drama production. The original script was written and produced by Melvyn Hughes and is titled ‘Better Days Ahead’. With Welsh Farming currently at breaking point the drama production was very topical. The drama focuses on a farming family which are facing difficulties such as a TB outbreak, Environment Agency Inspections, FAWL Inspections, Enzootic abortion and financial difficulties. The members were vocal with ideas for the production and decided the music choice of Dermot Kennedy ‘Better Days’ was a powerful and modern song which would add even more emotion to the production.

Although a hard watch for some, it has been applauded by all  those that watched it and has got people talking more which is what we wanted to achieve as a club. Overall the production was awarded 2nd place in the Radnor County competition.

Favourite Competitions:

Our favourite competition as a club is the Entertainment Competition as its a whole club competition – learning dance moves is great fun especially trying to get the boys to ditch their redback boots and move their hips a little more! We also really enjoy Rally Day, we are a big club so can fortunately fill in all the competitions and we all support each other with our different competitions with everyone’s sights set on lifting the Rally Shield together as a club which we have successfully managed to achieve over the past two years.
