CORONAVIRUS UPDATE FROM WALES YFC
As the situation with Coronavirus (Covid-19) evolves, the Wales Federation of YFC recognises the threat and as the number of cases continues to rise, we want to inform our members and volunteers of the following:
The Wales Federation of YFC has decided to postpone the forthcoming Festival of Public Speaking.
Due to this being a pan-Wales event we have considered our forthcoming Festival of Public Speaking due to be held at the Royal Welsh Showground on Sunday 22nd March, 2020, and our risk assessment concludes that the event be postponed due to the use of shared facilities and the bringing together of large numbers of members and spectators.
Having carefully considered Welsh Government guidelines, discussions with specialist advisors and discussions with officers and staff, the difficult decision to postpone until a later date has been made. The health, safety and well-being of our members, parents, supporters, volunteers and staff is our main priority at all our events and we want to ensure that we are acting responsibly and responding appropriately.
We will continue to provide frequent updates through our website and social media channels and are currently advising anyone who has concerns or is seeking further guidance to follow guidelines from Public Health Wales and Welsh Government.
We advise clubs and counties to keep abreast of developments with the situation but to take a common sense approach. If any members, parents or volunteers have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us at the Wales YFC Office.
A decision on the Wales YFC Field Day will be circulated on the 26th March 2020.
