Farming on film during Covid-19

Following a recent meeting with representatives from the Federation of Welsh Grassland Society and The Wales Federation of Young Farmers Clubs (YFC), we are pleased to announce a fantastic opportunity for members who are interested in the science and practice of grass and forage production and utilisation.

The Grassland Society bring together research workers, farmers, advisers, teachers and technical members of the agricultural industry. The British Grassland Society is in contact with farmers through its affiliated local grassland societies across the United Kingdom.

A new competition has been launched on Monday 22 June 2020 in collaboration between the Wales YFC and the Grassland Society.

The aim of the competition is to produce a video, not exceeding one minute on the theme ‘Farming through Covid-19’. Health and Safety regulations must be adhered to in the video.

The competition is open for members of Wales YFC and the Grassland Society. Closing date is the 16th July 2020 and the winners will be announced on the 22nd July 2020, full details can be found on the Wales YFC website.

We are grateful to the Federation of the Welsh Grassland Society for their generous donation towards the prizes.

Dafydd Parry Jones, Chairman of the Welsh Grassland Society said “During these times we are challenged to adapt, and develop new methods of communication through technology, to share information of best practice, and personal experiences, for the benefit of the farming industry.”

“It is a pleasure to work with the Federation of Grassland Societies in Wales. We are always open to new ideas to develop opportunities for our members and we hope this competition will attract a large number of entries – go for it!” said Non Williams, Rural Affairs Chairman.
