Interrailing 2023
We caught up with Carys Jones from Ceredigion YFC to hear about their Interrailing adventure!
We recently embarked on an interrailing adventure with Wales YFC and it was a journey filled with unforgettable memories and newfound friendships. The journey took us from Bristol to Geneva, Milan, Venice, Ljubljana, Lake Bled, Berlin, Budapest, and Amsterdam.
We embarked on a whirlwind journey that took us to the enchanting cities of Geneva, Milan, Venice, Ljubljana, and the breathtaking landscapes of Lake Bled, before culminating in the bustling metropolises of Berlin, Budapest, and Amsterdam.
Our journey began in Bristol, where we bid farewell to the familiar and welcomed the unknown with open arms. Geneva’s serene beauty and the shimmering waters of Lake Geneva captivated us, offering a serene contrast to the bustling city life.
Milan’s fashion-forward streets and historic landmarks like the Duomo Cathedral inspired us to explore its fashion and cultural heritage. Venice, with its winding canals and intricate architecture, felt like a step back in time, a city that exudes romance and mystique.
Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital, charmed us with its small-town vibe and picturesque bridges (not so much the mosquitos!) A short journey took us to Lake Bled, a place straight out of a fairy tale, with its emerald waters and the iconic Bled Castle perched atop a cliff.
Budapest, often called the “Pearl of the Danube,” is a captivating European city. Budapest’s thermal baths and grand architecture provided relaxation and awe in equal measure. The city’s unique blend of history and modernity left us spellbound.
As we made our way to Berlin, the city’s rich history and vibrant culture came alive as we rode through the city on bicycles. From the remnants of the Berlin Wall to the bustling history s of Bebelplatz, Berlin offered a glimpse into a city that’s constantly evolving.
Finally, we concluded our adventure in Amsterdam, a city known for its picturesque canals, art museums, and vibrant nightlife. Exploring its eclectic neighbourhoods and soaking in the artistic atmosphere was the perfect end to our journey.
I would strongly encourage you to consider applying for a trip with Wales YFC. It’s an excellent opportunity for personal growth, cultural enrichment, and forging lasting connections. You’ll have the chance to engage in unique experiences, meet like-minded individuals, and create memories that will stay with you for a lifetime.
