Penmynydd YFC raise £4644 with their festive tractor run

Whilst on Instagram, the team at Wales YFC noticed that Penmynydd YFC raised an amazing amount of money for a number of charities over the Christmas period. We contacted the club to hear their story, scroll down to hear all about their Christmassy tractor run!

“Following the success of Penmynydd YFC’s first ever Christmas tractor run organised in 2023 which raised over £1800 for St David’s Hospice, Holyhead, a small team of us came together once again in September 2024 to start organising the tractor run for Christmas once again.

We decided this year that we wanted to collect money for the Welsh Air Ambulance and Awyr Las which is Betsi Cadwaladr’s NHS charity and we also wanted to collect money for the club so that we could continue to pay rent at the Centre in Penmynydd and to buy essential goods for the club to continue to thrive. In 2023, we had 24 tractors so we were hoping for the same amount in 2024 but as the weeks went on and arrangements started to come together, the number of tractors and pickups that had signed up increased every day!

The big day arrived, the weather was favourable and Father Christmas had confirmed he was able to attend once again this year – Hallelujah! Tractors of all shapes, sizes and colours turned up to the starting point as well as pickups and mules, all decorated to put on a good show for everyone who was out welcoming us in the villages – there weren’t many tractors that weren’t on the trip left on Anglesey! We had a 35 mile tour of the Penmynydd area with a break in Llangefni halfway so the public could see all the lights and say hello to Father Christmas! On then to carry on the journey before coming back to Penmynydd for food and a chat over a cuppa.

It was a great evening and we managed to raise £4644 to share between the two charities and Penmynydd YFC. We owe a huge thank you to the team who organised and to every person and business that supported us in any way to make the tractor run possible! Thanks also to everyone who came out in the villages to support and give the tractors a wave! We are already looking forward to host the event again this year!”
