Wales YFC Raises Over £10,000 for British Heart Foundation Cymru
Wales YFC is proud to announce that a grand total of £10,327.14 has been raised in support of British Heart Foundation (BHF) Cymru – the chosen charity of our 2024-2025 Chair, Dewi Davies.
Throughout his year in post, Dewi championed the life-saving work of BHF Cymru with passion and energy, inspiring members across Wales to get involved in a variety of fundraising and awareness-raising activities.
One of the year’s highlights came during our January Council meeting, where we were joined by Jayne Lewis from BHF Cymru. Jayne delivered an impactful 15-minute CPR training session to sub-committee and council members, training that was later rolled out to clubs across Wales.

In February, we turned Wales YFC red for Heart Month. A Valentine’s Day ‘Go Red’ coffee morning was hosted at the Wales YFC Centre, and clubs and counties across the country joined in with their own coffee mornings, coffee evenings, and even pancake nights, all raising money and awareness for BHF Cymru.

At the Royal Welsh Show, BHF Cymru took over one of our information booths to offer free blood pressure checks to members, volunteers, and supporters.

Physical activity was also a key focus this year. Dewi wanted to prove that getting active doesn’t have to mean intense workouts. Sometimes, a good walk is all it takes. So, on Saturday 30th August 2025, Dewi led a team of 50 supporters on a sponsored walk from Pumlumon Fawr to Aberystwyth, a challenge that raised an impressive £2,200.18 alone.

Thanks to the dedication of our members, clubs, counties, and generous supporters, all of this year’s fundraising efforts brought the final total to £10,327.14, a huge achievement that will go a long way in supporting BHF Cymru’s mission to fight heart disease across Wales.
“It has been great working with BHF Cymru over the past 12 months, not only fundraising but also raising awareness of heart health and CPR training. A big thank you to all who have supported the cause in any way during the year” said Dewi Davies, Wales YFC Chairman 2024-2025.

Looking ahead, our newly elected Chair for 2025-2026, Angharad Thomas, has chosen Cancer Research Cymru as her charity of the year. We’re excited to see what inspiring challenge she’ll set, and we know the YFC community will rise to the occasion once again!
