Wales YFC Writing Course

On the 8th of September, nine YFC members from all over Wales came together to attend a writing course in Tŷ Newydd, Criccieth under the leadership of the authors Anni Llŷn and Bethan Gwanas. The members had a great time as we started the day with a morning of storytelling and poetry sessions. They were then treated to a delicious lunch by the Tŷ Newydd chefs, before making the most of the comfy sofas in the library to explore ideas that were developed in the morning session, with everyone reporting back to the group and discussing the issues they faced whilst writing creatively. To finish the day, we held  a discussion regarding  what makes YFC unique through playing a game ‘What would you never hear being said at a Young Farmers Club’.

This was the third writing workshop in the series that has been funded by the Welsh Book Council and it’s been a pleasure to see the development of members skills over the last year, and to also see the fruit of their labour.

As we collect the work together and explore the next steps, we are searching for an illustrator to join the project. Are you, or do you know of someone, who is connected to the organisation that enjoys illustration and would be interested in working on an exciting new project? Contact Elliw, the staff member co-ordinating the project to learn more. swyddogcymraeg@yfc-wales.org.uk

We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to Bethan and Anni for their work on this project. Thank you to Literature Wales and Tŷ Newydd for the wonderful venue and to the Welsh Book Council that are funding the project.

If you are a member and are interested in Welsh medium creative writing and would like to be part of the project, please contact  Elliw through swyddogcymraeg@yfc-wales.org.uk to learn more.
