Favourite Club Night Activity:

Farm Tours and outside speakers but also a social night!

Fundraising Accomplishments:

Walked 32 miles from Nelson RFC to Velindre in Cardiff and back again raising £10,000 for Velindre in August 2022. Every year we go carol singing around local farms and donate all proceeds to local charities.

Work Within the Community:

Volunteering in the setup of our local agricultural show.

Favourite Competitions:

Stock judging, public speaking and drama. We will be representing Glamorgan YFC in the all Wales Drama final on 10th March 2024.

How do you use the Welsh Language:

Being a club in South Wales most of our members are English first language. Members that can speak Welsh are encouraged to use it in competitions when they can. We also have a bilingual banner and gazebo with our club name on.

Any other facts:

As most YFC clubs, Gelligaer YFC really struggled during COVID with just 6 members. Over the last 4 years, since then our older members have worked hard on getting the club back on its feet and we now have 45 members and growing!
