Where you meet:

Oxwich hall for most of our club nights, however several other local establishments also accommodate us.

Favourite Club Night Activity:

Anything involving food, hands on or creative. Games that involve getting to know each other and that’s welcoming to newcomers.

Fundraising accomplishments:

Held a successful farmers produce market (more throughout the year are planned), club members take part in the Swansea half marathon. Organised several charity tractor runs which have been well attended by participants traveling from all over Wales. We have a stall at our local Gower agricultural show where we promote young farmers, events and charity work. Annual Christmas whist drive evening which brings in many of the public from across the generations.

Your work within the community:

Helping set up and litter pick at our local Gower agricultural show. Holding several annual public events that raise money for charities and awareness of different situations eg. Health Conditions. Taking part in local Harvest and Christmas services with different churches/ chapels round Gower. Promoting our club on social media to encourage other young people in the area to be part of the young farmers community. We auctioned ourselves off in a local charity auction to do a days work for whoever had the highest bid at the auction.

Favourite competitions:

Anything hands on or creative. Our members strive in competitions including the fencing, brick laying, woodwork, cookery and floral art. We have young members that enjoy public speaking competitions also.

How do you use the Welsh Language?

In promotional posters. Some games at club nights. Social media.

Any other fun facts or slogans etc.:

“GOWWEERR!” Gower YFC is the amalgamation of the old Pennard and Three Crosses YFC and we’ve gone from strength to strength. What we may lack in members as a small club in Glamorgan, we certainly make up for with oomf, determination and character.
